273 companies reported activity in the municipality of Pavel Bania in 2004. Total output produced iss worth 40.06mn BGN. Total net sales revenue earned in 2004 is in the amount of 63.89mn BGN, up 57% year-on-year (40.76mn BGN net sales revenue reported in 2004).
Agricultural sector was most rapidly growing in 2004, gaining from development of environmentally clean agriculture and livestock breeding. The Municipality of Pavel Bania is one of the major curative and recreational centers on the Balkans. There is a number of thermal water mineral springs (61oC), with total water capacity of 16 l/sec. Wood production and processing are also well growing local economic sectors.
As of early 2005, employed labour in the municipality totalled 2,323 people. Average public-sector annual salary in 2004 was 2,890 BGN, while private-sector average annual salary estimated at 2,494 BGN (1,034 people employed in the sector, 44.5% of the total employed).
According to the Municipal Development Plan, Pavel Bania should be growing as a European tourist center, with well developed local infrastructure. Various tourist products of high quality are presently offered in the municipality, the rational combination of geothermal resource and other natural endowments is concurrently being utilized. Agricultural traditions are being brought back to life as well.
Joint projects with neighbouring municipalities are being presently considered by the Pavel Bania municipal administration. The idea for creating a corridor called On the road of the rose is being developed, the corridor being part of the Karlovo-Gurkovo axis.
Implementation of joint projects for rose growing, wine production, thermal water exploitation, and cultural heritage development are also envisaged as part of this corridor.
The municipal administration has developed a project proposal for the construction of geothermal plant, worth 272,000 BGN, in 2005. In addition, a project for tourism development is expected to receive some 412,000 BGN financing over 2006.
With the highest net sales revenue earned among companies in the municipality that reported activity in 2004 are Gabrovnitsa AD, Prevention, Rehabilitation and Recreation EAD, Bulattars Production Company OOD, and Les Trans OOD. With the highest profit earned in 2004 are Gabrovnitsa AD, Prevention, Rehabilitation and Recreation EAD, Les Trans OOD, Raitrans Besoglu OOD, and Bullana OOD.
